Where to Stay on Aitutaki

The beautiful South Pacific paradise of Aitutaki is a must visit for anyone travelling to Rarotonga and the Cook Islands.

Most people do it as a day trip, but we strongly recommend at least two or three nights to get the real Aitutaki experience. You'll find award-winning beaches like the jaw-dropping One Foot Beach, as well as heaps of water sports, perfect places to relax and fascinating cultural performances.

There’s only a handful of accommodations on the island, so here’s the low down on our favourite places to stay.

1. Aitutaki Village

Aitutaki Village is a basic lead in (three star) option. Each bungalow opens out into a garden setting, just 20 metres from the beach. They also have a great beachfront restaurant open for all meals and the absolute perfect place for watching the sun set with cocktails or a bubbly.

Island Nights are held on Tuesday and feature an island-style buffet dinner with local cultural entertainment.

2. Tamanu Beach

This is a great family run resort split over a couple of sections. The Studio Bungalows are just a few minutes walk down the beach from the main resort complex which has the reception area, pool and restaurant etc. The main part of the resort also has the One Bedroom Bungalows set facing down a slight hill towards the lagoon. The One Bedroom Bungalows are light and airy with modern bathrooms, wooden floors and deck areas. With a beachfront location they are definitely worth the upgrade.

3. Etu Moana

Offering only ten villas, Etu Moana is perfect for honeymooners or those wanting a quiet, intimate holiday. The villas are all very well furnished and in good condition. There’s a pool just by the beach with plenty of deckchairs and even an honesty bar where you can mix your own drinks. Our clients return here year after year.

4. Aututaki Escape

A real gem in Aitutaki, with an absolute beachfront location. The luxury villas provide ultimate privacy and relaxation for those wanting to escape their busy lives. Each Villa boasts a private courtyard swimming pool, spacious dining and living areas and fully equipped kitchen to cater for your needs.

5. Pacific Resort Aitutaki

For the best of the best, you cannot go past the Pacific Resort Aitutaki . The resort has been voted the best in the world by countless organisations including the World Travel Awards, Boutique Hotel Awards and TripAdvisor. The property features a stunning infinity pool and an excellent restaurant with beach and lagoon views. The bungalows are set apart from each other along the beach and feature gorgeous teak and thatch furniture offering an authentic Polynesian style.
