Why a white christmas holiday in Europe?

Nowhere does a Christmas market quite like Europe. The Christmas markets are really unique to Europe and showcases the best of Christmas festivities. You’ll be treated to amazing food like wurst (sausages) and schaumkuss (marshmallows), hot chocolate and mulled wine; authentic Christmas trinkets and handmade decorations, music and a truly magical festival vibe.

With so many fairytale cities (like Bratislava, Munich, Vienna, Budapest and Prague) to choose from, a river cruise makes it easy to fit more into a single holiday. The river cruise companies do amazing itineraries that make it so easy to experience a few different markets.  

Take cash to the markets, not all of the kiosks have Eftpos facilities.

Remember to wrap up warmly - multilayers, beanie and gloves are essential.

My favourite white christmas highlights 

Bratislava is uniquely small but packed full of atmosphere with carollers and the best place to find handmade schaumkuss (marshmallows) to add to your hot chocolate.

Munich’s market Christkindlmarkt on Marienplatz has such a wonderful backdrop of Neues Rathaus all lit up. 

Vienna are remarkable, the Budapest market has the most authentic handmade Christmas decorations. 

But you can’t go wrong with Prague, Krakov and German Markets.
