Flight time.
A flight from Auckland to the West Coast of the USA, such as Los Angeles, takes about 12-13 hours. While it’s a long-haul flight, you’ll be arriving in the land of endless possibilities.
Yep, the world would be a pretty boring place without the USA - the land that makes movie stars, has streets paved with their famous names and has homes in Memphis once graced by Elvis.
There’s so much to see and do, with a different experience in every state and around every corner.
For foodies, there is no better place. From the All-American diner to corn dogs at baseball games, you won’t go hungry in the land of Uncle Sam. It’s a huge country, with an even bigger To-do list.
Each state offers a new adventure, a fresh flavour, and another story to tell. From mouthwatering food scenes that satisfy every craving, to epic landscapes and unforgettable moments that’ll have you saying “wow!” over and over again—this is a place built for making memories.
Come and talk to our USA travel specialists and together let’s start planning your stateside adventure today!

The best times to visit the West Coast of the USA are from April to June and September to November, when the weather is milder and the tourist crowds are thinner.
The West Coast of the USA is 19 hours behind New Zealand. This significant time difference will require some adjustment.

RogerMy travel journey began with a solo adventure to New York at 21-and I've been hooked ever since! Fast forward a few years and I've had the absolute joy of exploring over 20 countries.
From wandering through ancient cities to tasting street food in hidden alleyways, I thrive on discovering new places, flavours, and cultures.
I found my way into the travel industry while searching for a career that truly lit me up-and I've never looked back.
Today, I get to turn wanderlust into reality by crafting unforgettable holidays for our local community and curious travellers from all over the world.
Planning a trip should feel exciting, not overwhelming. I'm here to take the stress out of travel and help you design a getaway that's as unique and joyful as you are.

Why a customer would choose me:
I'm honestly in my dream job - I get to combine my passion for travel with my love of organisation and planning. Travel has changed so much over the last few years and continues to do so, which means there are more details to consider than ever before.
It's so much fun getting to know my clients and helping them come up with the perfect itinerary. I can research to my heart's content and get into the nitty gritty to make sure your trip flows smoothly.
You just bring me your dream and we can build it together. Then leave me to focus on the details, so that you can relax and have your best adventure yet!
Meet Me:
I moved home to NZ in 2017 after living on the Sunshine Coast in Australia for ten years during my 20's (yes, I'd love to help you plan your next trip over there).
In the weekends I'm either reading a good book at home cuddled up with my rescue cats, or traipsing through the local forests - I'm not much of a city dweller if I can help it.
When it comes to travel, my attitude leans more towards 'go big or go home'. If I'm flying halfway around the world, you can bet that I'm going to make the most of it. I will bargain hunt my heart out so that I can fit in more days, more locations and more fun.
I mean, is there any better feeling in the world than standing somewhere you've never been before, experiencing new things, tasting new foods, meeting new people and just having the time of your life?

I am an adventure seeker with a passion for exploring the world and experiencing everything it has to offer. I'm always on the lookout for new and exciting experiences and have a particular love for small group tours and adventures. Whether it's cruising in the Galapagos Islands or exploring new cities, I love the intimacy and camaraderie that comes with traveling in small groups.
When I'm not adventuring, you can often find me at live sports and events, cheering on my favourite teams and soaking up the excitement of the crowd. Or I'm equally at home soaking up the sun during a beautiful island beach holiday.
I also have a love for cruising and have had the opportunity to explore new destinations such as the Mediterranean, the coastlines of Spain and Portugal, the Rhône and Saône Rivers in Southern France, canal boating in England, and cruising across the Tasman. All while enjoying the comforts and amenities of life on the water.
One of my favourite pastimes is people watching whether it's from a cafe in Paris or on the streets of New York. For me, there is nothing more fascinating than observing the unique and diverse cultures of the world and the interactions of the people within them. I'm always seeking out new experiences and adventures, driven by a deep curiosity and a thirst for knowledge and understanding.

As the proud Owner Operator of House of Travel Nelson, I lead a small but passionate team dedicated to taking care of all your travel needs.
I primarily work on the Orbit World Travel side of our business, specialising in business and group travel. But as a traveller myself, I love chatting with customers and the team about their upcoming adventures — there’s nothing better than sharing in the excitement of a great trip!
Travel has played a huge role in my life. From years of family holidays to the Gold Coast and Fiji, where the kids spent hours in the pool or on the playground, to unforgettable highlights like Disneyland (they were 10 and 12 — the perfect age!), followed by a relaxing week in Mexico. These days, with older kids, we’re seeking more adventure. Our recent trip to Vietnam was a standout — from the vibrant energy of Ho Chi Minh City to the peaceful beauty of Hoi An's lanterns and Halong Bay. If you haven’t been, it’s a must!
Next on my list? Europe. While I’ve done a couple of quick trips
in the past, I’m keen to take the time to explore the diverse cultures and rich
history of the places I’ve spent years helping others discover.
Whether your trip is big or small, come in and see us at House of Travel Nelson — we’ll make sure it’s your best one yet.
