Tasmania

Home to the iconic Tasmanian devil.

TASMANIA

Australia’s island state of Tasmania is best known for its native wildlife, intriguing history and natural beauty, but the incredible local produce is another highlight. From wine to strawberries, cheese and seafood, you’ll find artisan producers around every corner and farmers’ markets in many towns.

Tasmania is easily accessible. Airports at Hobart and Launceston connect to the mainland, or you can take the overnight Spirit of Tasmania passenger and car ferry from Melbourne to Devonport.

At about half the size of the North Island of New Zealand, Tasmania is an ideal self-drive destination. We recommend you allow at least one week to take in all those towering forests, deserted beaches, historic sites, beautiful mountains and meet the Tasmanian wildlife – perhaps even the iconic Tasmanian devil.

Kayaking, white water rafting and hiking are all popular ways to get out and experience the landscape up close, plus the cities are small enough that you can easily explore them on foot, and historic sites like Port Arthur are made for walking tours. There are plenty of other options for the less energetic too: take a ride on a scenic railway through a spectacular rainforest gorge, join a cruise on a mirror-calm river, soar over mountains and beaches in a helicopter or go off-road on a guided 4WD tour.

Tasmania has also made it onto the international art scene with the addition of Mona, the world-class art museum in Hobart which is a must-see.

Why a customer would choose me:

I'm honestly in my dream job - I get to combine my passion for travel with my love of organisation and planning. Travel has changed so much over the last few years and continues to do so, which means there are more details to consider than ever before.

It's so much fun getting to know my clients and helping them come up with the perfect itinerary. I can research to my heart's content and get into the nitty gritty to make sure your trip flows smoothly.

You just bring me your dream and we can build it together. Then leave me to focus on the details, so that you can relax and have your best adventure yet!

Meet Me:

I moved home to NZ in 2017 after living on the Sunshine Coast in Australia for ten years during my 20's (yes, I'd love to help you plan your next trip over there).

In the weekends I'm either reading a good book at home cuddled up with my rescue cats, or traipsing through the local forests - I'm not much of a city dweller if I can help it.

When it comes to travel, my attitude leans more towards 'go big or go home'. If I'm flying halfway around the world, you can bet that I'm going to make the most of it. I will bargain hunt my heart out so that I can fit in more days, more locations and more fun.

I mean, is there any better feeling in the world than standing somewhere you've never been before, experiencing new things, tasting new foods, meeting new people and just having the time of your life?

I am so excited to be back working and a part of the House of Travel family after some time away from the industry whilst my children were young.

Being a friendly and bubbly person I appreciate spending time with my clients building their dream holidays, listening and paying attention to their needs to create special memories.

I feel so lucky to be a part of this wonderful travel industry and find that my passion to help others shows when working in my happy place.

I have travelled through Europe, Vietnam and Cambodia as well as parts of Eastern Canada.  I have cruised Alaska which I absolutely loved and have had many trips to different parts of Australia, Asia and South Africa.

My favourite country would have to be Cambodia, where I thoroughly enjoyed meeting the locals, travelling this beautiful country, and experiencing the local food. Waking up at 5am to have a cup of tea whilst watching the sun rising over Angkor Wat as the local monks walked past.  It was such a magical moment and one that will be engraved in my mind forever.

I can’t wait to meet with you to discuss your individual travel enquiries.

From the first travel I did as a teenager I have wanted to travel the world, experience the food, absorb the culture and learn the history!!!

I have always been passionate about creating the ultimate holidays and feel that makes me the best planner of your holidays that I can be!!

I had been selling travel for over 20 years when I felt something else was needed and to the leap to be the retail manger of House of Travel Papamoa. I feel I have never looked back and enjoy leading a fantastic group of people!!

I love my job!!! I love the fact that no one holiday is ever the same and also thrive on a challenge of a complex itinerary, round the world flight or something out of the norm.

I think the benefit you get with me is the experience I have had planning and travel and the places I have travelled.

I have travelled extensively and in particular done a lot around New Zealand, Australia, South Pacific Islands, USA and Europe and find that travel opens your mind to another world full of new experiences, new tastes and an appreciation for life in general.

I have a rule that every trip I do I need to pick one unique thing to do on holiday that is un-usual or you would not do on another holiday .... I have been hot air ballooning, have been on a segway tour, have helicoptered out to an island etc.

My Travel Tips

* I am a bit of a IT geek so always travel with an adaptor that has USB ports for my IWatch, iPhone and iPad.

*Have a store of great apps that help with travel, packing, maps, closest toilet etc.!!

*Always keep in touch with your travel agent so they can keep you up to date with deals that are out for your next holiday.

*Cash passports are a MUST as safe and easy way to travel.

The best holidays are definitely created together so would love to get you in for an appointment and have a discussion about your travel dreams.
