Gear up for a great American roadie

I have been in the travel industry since 1987 as a tour leader, travel advisor, traveler visiting the globe, and now Owner Operator of House of Travel Dunedin City. 

My travels have encompassed 105 countries initially using all forms of transport from a double decker bus around Europe to rickshaws in Asia to horses in the Middle East and dugout canoes in Central Africa with camels, elephants, donkeys and bicycles in-between. 

I am more than willing to travel in a lot more comfort these days visiting the Pacific, Myanmar, India, Vietnam, Ireland, China, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Japan, USA, Cayman Islands, Zimbabwe, Turkiye and Malta in recent years. 

I believe the transition is similar for people of my generation who still yearn to visit anywhere and everywhere but enjoy a bit, or a lot, more luxury. As such I have developed an in-depth knowledge of the whole spectrum of travel options and regularly come up with solutions to the most complex of travel plans.

In recent years, I have taken to much more adventurous travel, heading to Central Asia and exploring Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, exploring much of Vietnam, Sri Lanka and Shanghai and looking forward to our next adventures in Africa.

I love travelling with my family and seeing my teenage girls minds blown by the experiences they have in different countries - different ways of living, different foods, different cultures, amazing sites (and sights!) and really seeing what is important to other people outside of NZ.

Meet Me:

I moved home to NZ in 2017 after living on the Sunshine Coast in Australia for ten years during my 20's (yes, I'd love to help you plan your next trip over there).

In the weekends I'm either reading a good book at home cuddled up with my rescue cats, or traipsing through the local forests - I'm not much of a city dweller if I can help it.

When it comes to travel, my attitude leans more towards 'go big or go home'. If I'm flying halfway around the world, you can bet that I'm going to make the most of it. I will bargain hunt my heart out so that I can fit in more days, more locations and more fun. 

I mean, is there any better feeling in the world than standing somewhere you've never been before, experiencing new things, tasting new foods, meeting new people and just having the time of your life?
